ABOUT US

Overcoming Barriers to Accessibility

Helping the visually impaired attend and enjoy live events with trained volunteer support.

Our Story

Game Day Vision is a newly formed CIC, born from the personal experience of our founder and managing director; Andrew Birch, himself living with severe sight loss and an avid football fan. Andy’s quality of life and general well-being benefit immeasurably from being able to go and watch live football matches, live music, and other events.

The friends and family members who go along with Andy on these occasions provide him with the sighted help and support necessary to negotiate the many barriers that would otherwise exclude him.

The Challenge

Whilst Andy enjoys the good fortune of having a strong network of supportive friends and family, there are many visually impaired people who are not so fortunate, and even though accessibility at venues has improved over recent years, it is often public transport and other factors that present the biggest barriers for people.

The Solution

Game Day Vision, therefore, aims to provide visually impaired people with the support they need to not only attend live events but to travel to and from them by recruiting and training a team of volunteer buddy’s who will deliver the support.
